"Prism Twirl"

Jennifer Thomas of Curlicue Creations is debuting her Signature Collection, "Sunflower Spice" designed by Jerry Khiev of Lumin Fabrics. This collection is definately right up my alley, with the beautiful, bold colors. There are twenty fabrics in the collection.
I asked for the fat quarter bundle. Hmm, what to make? Back in July 2023, I went to Madeline Island School of the Arts in Wisconsin. I always fly into Minneapolis and drive north to Lake Superior. It's an amazing place to take classes and quite inspiring. I started my drive north and I saw this building with really cool windows and I thought that would make a great quilt. I took a photo of the building and drafted my version as a block in EQ8.
This is my adaptation of the windows made into a design for a quilt.
I used the templates from my EQ8 block to cut out the fabrics.
These 10-1/2" blocks were really simple to make and it was a very fast process. I used all of the twenty fat quarters and I had very little of the fabric left. I also used a white solid batik by Island Batik. The quilt finished at 80" x 80".
I quilted my top on my Bernina Q24 longarm. I used a digital edge to edge design called "Dave's Sunflowers" available at Urban Elementz. I used Aurifil 100% cotton thread, color 2710, light robins egg.
Finding a name for the quilt, has been a little challenging. Glass, stained glass, prism, Minnesota, Minneapolis, twirl..... Let's go with "Prism Twirl". My family started a yearly scholarship for a graduating senior at our local high school in remembrance of my nephew, Andrew. This year, we selected a fine young lady, who has many future aspirations! I am going to gift this quilt to her, along with the scholarship check.

I like your interpretation of the building and windows. I used the stain glass window in the church my mom grew up in for a design. Inspiration is everywhere!
